چکیده
Mangrove ecosystems are of high ecological value and occur in tropical subtropical coastal areas. They consist salt-tolerant woody plants highly complex productive. Here, a novel approach was developed to map disturbances evaluate the status Iranian mangroves based on multispectral WorldView-2 Sentinel-2 remote sensing techniques. A land cover generated that serves as basis assess changes composition structure mangrove ecosystems. The spatial disturbance index (SDI) calculated landscape metrics principal component analysis (PCA) order detect degraded Qeshm Island, Iran. comprised: (I) selection metrics, (II) definition hexagon cell scale, (III) completion PCA standardized values of eight selected (IV) modeling SDI eigenvalues loading factor. For validation, variance inflation factor (VIF) used. results indicate best set key quantify comprises patch density (PD), total edge (TE), mean size (MPS), shape (MSI), Euclidean nearest neighbor distance (ENND), contagion (CONT), splitting (SPLIT), Shannon’s diversity (SHDI). first three components explained 87% (47%, 27%, 13%, respectively) information distribution, demonstrating effectiveness PCA. Then, index, five levels, ranging from very low disturbances, were identified. This enabled zonation has occurred region supports sustainable management future planning efforts, thus making their conservation more realistic.

Remote Sensing in Mapping Mangrove Ecosystems - An Object-Based Approach
Over the past few decades, clearing for shrimp farming has caused severe losses of mangroves in the Mekong Delta (MD) of Vietnam. Although the increasing importance of shrimp aquaculture in Vietnam has brought significant financial benefits to the local communities, the rapid and largely uncontrolled increase in aquacultural area has contributed to a considerable loss of mangrove forests and to...
متن کاملHot Spots Analysis of Landscape Metrics and Runoff Landscape Index in Ardabil Province
Hot spots are often associated with places where an abnormal process has occurred. Accordingly, their identification can help experts and managers to scrutinize the state of health and sustainability, from an ecological point of view. The present study was therefore conducted to analyze the spatial autocorrelation and identify hot spots of 11 landscape metrics, the new Runoff Landscape Index (R...
متن کاملInvestigation of Rangeland Changes Based on Landscape Metrics Analysis (Case Study: Kezab Rangelands, Yazd Province, Iran)
Adverse changes in rangeland vegetation can be considered as one of the criteria for land degradation. Some of these changes can be evaluated through monitoring the spatial changes of landscape parameters. This study aimed to investigate the landscape changes in Kezab rangelands of Yazd province, central Iran. Landsat satellite images of 1990, 2002, and 2013, and landscape metrics including Tot...
متن کاملCharacterizing the Spatial Structure of Mangrove Features for Optimizing Image-Based Mangrove Mapping
Understanding the relationship between the size of mangrove structural features and the optimum image pixel size is essential to support effective mapping activities in mangrove environments. This study developed a method to estimate the optimum image pixel size for accurately mapping mangrove features (canopy types and features (gaps, tree crown), community, and cover types) and tested the app...
متن کاملSpatial Analysis of Anthropogenic Landscape Disturbance and Buruli Ulcer Disease in Benin
BACKGROUND Land use and land cover (LULC) change is one anthropogenic disturbance linked to infectious disease emergence. Current research has focused largely on wildlife and vector-borne zoonotic diseases, neglecting to investigate landscape disturbance and environmental bacterial infections. One example is Buruli ulcer (BU) disease, a necrotizing skin disease caused by the environmental patho...
